Your data is encrypted and synced securely. Food photos are never stored on our servers.
Take a photo of your meal using the camera or pick one from your library. The image is sent to our server where GPT-4o Vision analyzes it, identifying each food item and estimating calories based on typical portion sizes. The photo is processed immediately and not stored.
AI estimates are typically within 15–25% of actual values for common dishes. They work best with clearly visible, well-separated foods. You can always adjust the numbers manually after scanning. For packaged foods, we recommend using the nutrition label instead.
You can start tracking immediately without an account. However, signing in (via Apple, Google, or email) enables cloud backup so your data is preserved if you reinstall the app or switch devices.
Free users get 5 AI scans per day, unlimited manual entry, full dashboard & analytics, Apple Health integration, and cloud backup. Premium unlocks unlimited AI scans, CSV export, macros tracking, personal calorie goals, and extended streaks.
The app will ask for HealthKit permission on first launch. If you declined, go to iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → CalorieTracker and enable Active Energy and Step Count.
Open iPhone Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → CalorieTracker Premium → Cancel. You'll keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period. We don't handle cancellations directly — all billing goes through Apple.
If you were signed in before reinstalling, sign in with the same account and your data will restore automatically from the cloud. If you weren't signed in, local data is unfortunately lost on uninstall — iOS removes app data. We recommend signing in to enable cloud backup.
This happens when the AI can't identify food in the image. Try taking the photo with better lighting, from directly above, and make sure the food is clearly visible. Avoid photos with heavy filters or where the food is barely visible.
Drop us a line and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
